Treescape Planet Organization, in partnership with Asharami Uganda Limited, implemented a School Greening Campaign across six schools in the Kampala metropolitan area in August 2025.
The initiative combined tree planting, environmental education and improved waste management to create greener and healthier learning environments while encouraging students to become active stewards of their surroundings.
Across the participating schools, 30 trees were planted, dustbins were provided, and students and teachers participated in environmental awareness sessions focused on conservation, climate action and responsible waste disposal.
Greening Schools, Growing Stewardship
The campaign was designed to go beyond planting trees. By involving students and school staff directly, Treescape sought to build a culture of environmental responsibility that can continue long after the planting activity.
The trees planted included a combination of indigenous and fruit species, contributing to biodiversity, shade and the future nutritional and educational value of school grounds.
Students participated in the planting process, creating an opportunity to learn through practical action and develop a sense of ownership of their school environment.
Cleaner Schools, Better Habits
Environmental sustainability also requires attention to how waste is managed.
As part of the campaign, dustbins were placed strategically across the participating school compounds, particularly in high-traffic areas such as classrooms, playgrounds and dining areas.
The intervention was complemented by sensitisation sessions encouraging students to adopt responsible waste disposal practices and take an active role in keeping their schools clean.
Environmental Education
Treescape Planet Organization integrated environmental education into each school engagement.
Students and teachers were sensitised on the importance of trees, biodiversity, climate change and responsible waste management. Through discussions and practical demonstrations, the campaign encouraged young people to see conservation as something they can actively participate in.
For Treescape, this combination of action and education is central to creating lasting environmental impact.

Building Partnerships for Sustainability
The campaign demonstrates the value of collaboration between environmental organizations, schools and the private sector.
Through the support of Asharami Uganda Limited, Treescape Planet Organization was able to take practical conservation action within school communities while creating opportunities for young people to learn and participate.
The partnership provides a foundation for future initiatives that can expand tree planting, environmental education, waste management and climate action to more schools and communities.
Looking Ahead
Treescape Planet Organization aims to build on the School Greening Campaign by expanding its reach to more schools, strengthening environmental education and supporting longer-term tree care and monitoring.
Future phases will focus on scaling tree planting, strengthening sustainability education and deepening corporate and community partnerships to support practical climate and environmental action.
Small actions. Growing impact.
Every tree planted, every student engaged and every cleaner school environment contributes to a more sustainable future.
Plant a Tree; Plant a Life.
