It all started with an invitation from my friend and classmate at Nkumba University, Hakim. He told me, ‘We’re not earning money, but we’re earning a life—and planting for generations to come.’

That’s how I joined Treescape Planet Organisation, which quickly became more than a team—it became family. As a volunteer, I’ve enjoyed every inclusive tree-planting activity across Uganda. We’ve educated communities about the dangers of deforestation, poor waste management, and reclaiming wetlands, while promoting tree planting, proper waste disposal, and protecting vegetation.

These efforts don’t just keep our country green—they reduce runoff, shield homes from strong winds, and create spaces for recreation. Working with Treescape, surrounded by people who share this vision, always puts a smile on my face. Truly, when you plant a tree, you plant a life.

Working with Treescape has been an incredible experience. Their dedication to environmental conservation and community development is truly inspiring. I’ve been able to contribute to meaningful projects and collaborate with passionate individuals. Treescape’s commitment to making a positive impact is evident in everything they do. We felt very welcome all the time and loved meeting the different team members as well. We enjoyed the field trips and it was nice going out of Kampala seeing the countryside as well. By seeing and meeting the schools and farmers we learnt a lot about Uganda in an interesting way.

It was also very nice that you always were available ready to answer our questions and guide us, it made us feel safe and in good hands. You also took time to be with us and made flexible plans with space for our many questions and in debt answers.”

Volunteering with Treescape Planet Organisation has been a transformative experience. From tree planting with pupils to engaging with international guests and leading sustainability projects, I’ve grown in leadership, communication, and environmental stewardship.

Planting the Friendship Tree with visitors from France and Denmark was a powerful symbol of unity and our shared duty to protect nature. Treescape has allowed me to combine my passions for agriculture, community development, and conservation—I’m deeply grateful for the mentorship and the chance to create lasting impact.

I had the most wonderful time learning from your organization. My experience was absolutely incredible. The staff at Treescape Planet are so knowledgeable and truly passionate about climate change and environmental conservation. They are dedicated to helping communities understand climate change and take action to mitigate its impacts. For me, it was an honor to be surrounded by such passion and expertise. As a climate advocate in Canada, it was inspiring to connect with like-minded individuals who share the same commitment to protecting our planet. Joining Treescape Planet Organisation as a volunteer marked the start of a transformative journey. My first project at Namugongo Vocational Secondary School ignited my passion for educating others about the environment.

Treescape’s strong values, collaborative spirit, and impactful projects – like working with Sama Green and promoting climate justice in Mbale – have exceeded my expectations.
