Projects & Impact

Christ the King High School, Bweya Project

At Treescape Planet Organization, we believe that meaningful conservation begins by connecting people with nature.

On 23 November 2025, we brought this belief to life at Christ the King High School, Bweya, through a tree planting and environmental education initiative themed “Planting Trees, Planting Hope.”

The activity resulted in the planting of 30 indigenous and fruit trees, with 45 students and teachers actively participating in the exercise.

Growing Young Environmental Stewards

The initiative was designed not only to increase tree cover, but also to give young people a practical role in environmental conservation.

Students took part in planting the trees and engaged in conversations about biodiversity, climate action and the importance of protecting and caring for nature.

Through a simple tree adoption approach, students were encouraged to take responsibility for individual trees and nurture them as they grow. This helps turn tree planting from a one-day activity into an ongoing learning and stewardship experience.

Connecting Tourism with Conservation

The project also demonstrates Treescape’s One Tourist, One Tree approach, which connects tourism experiences with practical environmental action.

Some of the trees were associated with travelers and tourism participants, creating a lasting connection between their travel experiences and conservation in Uganda.

Travad Tours Uganda and Ettuko Safaris supported the initiative as a tourism partner, helping strengthen the link between responsible travel and environmental restoration.

Beyond Planting

For Treescape, planting is only the beginning.

The school’s Environmental and Interact Clubs will support the care and monitoring of the trees, while Treescape Planet Organization will provide follow-up guidance and environmental education.

As the trees grow, they will contribute to a greener school environment, improved biodiversity, shade, future fruit production and long-term climate resilience.

Project Impact:

30  Trees planted

45  Students & teachers engaged

2   Tree categories: indigenous & fruit

1   School community taking action for a greener future

Looking Ahead

Treescape Planet Organization will continue working with schools and communities to promote tree growing, environmental education and practical climate action.

At Christ the King, these 30 trees are more than seedlings. They are an investment in the school’s environment and a living opportunity for young people to learn, participate and grow as environmental stewards.

Plant a Tree; Plant a Life.
